Testimonials

Barnardos Backyard Blitz Partnership

“This project is a fantastic example of what we can achieve when we work in partnership with the local community.”

Ian Barrat, Manager Building services, Laing O’Rourke

"We provided a real-life Design and Construction experience, with an industry compliant work-site so the students gained a perspective in design and building processes on a real-life project."

David Gill, Site Manager, Laing O’Rourke

WOW Partnership

“It is a great opportunity to have young people here at Council to talk about career options as part of the WOW program. Council employs over 1200 staff in a wide range of departments to deliver services to the community so there are many different career options here in local government.

It is fantastic that young people can meet council staff to discuss how they have been able to build successful careers and what it takes to balance work and life options. A key element message I would like to give to young people and careers is anyone can be successful you just need the right attitude!”

Penrith City Mayor , Councillor Greg Davies

"Partnerships such as the one we have in the Western Sydney region are integral to the WOW programs’ success and enhance the outcomes so much."

Aidan McLaren, National Manager WoW, Foundation for Young Australians

"Giving back to the community is what we are all about at Penrith Panthers. The youth are our future and myself and the team are proud to assist in educating, guiding and nurturing tomorrow’s leaders."

Sue McNeill, Chief Operating Officer, Panthers Group

Action Team For Partnerships Cranebrook High School - Working For Student Success

“This was a very worthwhile event for both the students and participants. It allowed local business and community leaders to give the students some valuable tips and advice on how to have a successful interview and get that foot in the door to a rewarding career.

During the session we covered topics such as presentation skills, interview etiquette and how to craft a good resume. It was rewarding to be able to pass on this essential advice to Year 10 students preparing to enter the workforce or tertiary studies. ANZ is committed to supporting our local communities through these types of initiatives.”

David Rose Branch Manager ANZ Bank Penrith

“These interviews are a great way for students to prepare for future job interviews and to develop and practice their interview skills. The members of the Action Team for Partnership at the school actively recruited business people from our local area as interviewers, their expertise in interviewing for various professions and trades provided the students with a more authentic/realistic interview experience.”

Cristie Neill, Co-chair Action Team for Partnerships Cranebrook High School

“I’m happy to be involved because I strongly believe it takes a community to raise our children. Children get more out of their learning when it’s not just their teachers presenting the information.”

Barbra Goulding, Parent

“It’s important to show the kids that there’s nothing to be scared of. If we can help them build their confidence and give them more opportunities in the world of work then this project will be a great success.”

Clinton Lewin, Parent

“I have a keen interest in Mathematics. It’s something my Dad passed on to me. I’m really glad to be involved in the [Maths Deadlys] project”

Glen Bootle, Parent

“I am a parent of 2 children at Cranebrook High School with another child still to attend there in a few years. I believe that in conjunction with our High School, every parent should get involved with their kid’s education. Your child’s education is not up to our schools to provide solely. There are many things we as parents can get involved in that will help in guiding our children into the workforce after their schooling has finished. Action Team for Partnerships is providing Cranebrook High School with the tools to help get parents and local businesses involved as well. With the help of the greater community we can guide our children in the right direction!”
