Attracting Young People to Your industry

Many industries are experiencing difficulty attracting high quality young people into their industry. The Schools Industry Partnership servicing the Blue Mountains, Hawkesbury and Penrith regions has developed in conjunction with local industry, schools and the community a number of projects designed to assist young people reach their full potential by exploring career and education options.

The Schools Industry Partnership under the Federal Governments Partnership Broker Program has been charged with the providing links to Industry, Schools, Parents and the community to actively encourage and broker partnerships that actively encourage young people to particpate in learning all about pathways into Industry and further educational pursuits.   Essentially we work with all young people,  to  assist in a successful transition from school to work or into further education, explore their career pathways, provide the link between industry and schools.

Employers often lend a hand by:

  • Hosting student placements
  • Guest speaking at key events
  • Helping with Mock Interviews
  • Formally mentoring Year 9 or Year 10 students
  • Hiring a student as a part-time Trainee or Apprentice
  • helping with a practical hands on a learning projects - such as our Engineering Challenge program ... and more

The Penrith Valley Apprenticeship Expo, which traditionally occurs in September each year, is a fantastic way to recruit staff and the Nepean Careers Market, run by the Nepean Careers Forum, can showcase careers in your business or industry to thousands of students.

There are just so many ways we can introduce you to a talented pool of students or you can help better prepare students for the world of work.
