Automotive
High School students studying Automotive courses at Blacktown TAFE will also be required to do 2 weeks of Workplacement.
Business Services
Students attend their 35 hours work placement not just because they are required to, but because it will ensure they gain a valuable life and work place experience. Skills taught in the classroom such as document handling, operating equipment and computer and organization skills will be used in a practical way which will build confidence and enhance self-esteem.
Construction
Construction is a very popular VET course choice, second only to ‘the big one’, Hospitality.
Entertainment
Approximately 350 local students are studying Entertainment (Lighting, Sound, staging etc.) for their HSC studies.
Hospitality
Hospitality is the most popular VET course choice. This year, approximately 1000 local students are studying Certificate II (Kitchen Operations) in Hospitality for their HSC. Hospitality focuses on providing customer service. Skills learned can be transferred across a range of industries. Workplaces for which Hospitality competencies are required include cafes, catering organisations and resorts.
Information Technology

Metals and Engineering
Students attend their 35 hours work placement not just because they are required to but because it will ensure they gain a valuable life and work place experience. Skills taught in the classroom will be used in a practical way which will build confidence and enhance self-esteem and trade skills.
Primary Industries
This year we will be finding workplace opportunities for approximately 50 local students who have chosen to study Primary Industries, (Agriculture Certificate 2) for their HSC studies.
Retail
Retail provides students with the opportunity to gain a range of skills and knowledge suitable for employment in a retail environment. Students will acquire skills and knowledge in sales, customer service, administration, communicating with staff, products and services, point of sale, ticketing, displays, stock control and applying OH&S practices to the workplace.
TVET or TAFE Vocational Education & Training
TVET courses are those HSC courses that are provided by local TAFE Colleges that may not be available at every school
